Sparky can you leave this here so I can get a consensus as the numbers looking here is highest. It's a DJ5A?
It is RHD, has left side gas tank, no cowl battery box, bottom mount wipers, left side spare tire, amber parking lights. F head engine 60/40 seats. So I'm thinking after 1966 but since no hood or fender marker lights pre 1969. Now look at the picture. I didn't notice until I got home.
No floor shift, no column shift. Could it be auto, there is a lever on the dash, and not be a uni-hardtop postal? Weren't all those hooked up to Chevy engines? This reads Kaiser jeep but I spaced on writing down the serial number. It looks like a flanged rear end too. I was told it had 13 leaves. Anyone?

Looks like it had a half metal cab at one time. could be a special order by a rural mail carrier. They often supply their own vehicle.

Looks like a dj5 to me.

Flanged rear axle, no throttle cable, looks like half cab brackets on the wheelhouses.I wouldn't think it was a rural mail carrier with the half cab. They'd probably want the space for packages, etc, besides it has a left seat.

I think that the RHD steering assembly is interesting the way that jeep decided to work it.

    Serial number????

My guess is a plain DJ-5. I believe the DJ-5A,B,C etc were the postal bodied Jeeps. If it's an automatic, I think it could be either a F134 and Borg-Warner or a Chevy 153 and Powerglide. However, I have no idea about the year range for those, or what was actually on the DJ option list and when.

I know that the amber front turn signals were used in '67-'68, I'm not sure about '66.

Here in the local Jeep junkyard the guy has a RHD CJ5 and he says it's a DJ, even though it has 4-Wheel Drive.

By my (and I think Jeep's) definitions, he's wrong. I'd say 2WD is DJ, 4WD is CJ, and LHD/RHD is not important, since both were made for various markets.

I saw a similar one a couple of years ago that a guy purchased in a government auction. It was a 2wd, rhd, 4 cyl. engine with auto trans. It was a special order CALTRANS (California Transportation) or railroad vehicle as I recall. The guy disassembled it and was selling the body, which was completely rust free and in excellent shape. I'm almost sure I posted the information along with pics here when it was for sale.

Bottom wipers make it probably a late '68?

OK spoke to first owner and it was used as a mosquito sprayer and had a tank in back. Besides floors it's not bad. I wonder what the axle ratio would be? I didn't know an auto trans was available back in the late 60's behind an F head.

Well, yeah, I had thought so, but I don't recall why. I'm not at all sure of it.

My CJ5 is done except the choice of bed extender, solid or folding one, and to get the dual wheel conversion sandblasted and painted and find two more original rims and buy two more tires and then mount the drum pulley and have the brackets made for the T-1 compressor to mount on the drum pulley. Well maybe not all done. I need to buy some tires for the steel Renegade rims too.
I also need to restore the Spen trailer and restore the extended hitch that clears the drum and compressor so the trailer fits.
