I really like this as an idea...title issue is a big red flag and non-running engine so seems way overpriced. If I were looking to build up a trail rig but still kind of old iron - this would be it. I like to the long wheelbase of the cj8, but the rear overhang is usually an issue - this is a good solution. Drop in a HO 4.0 with EFI, T18 and 35s etc...

i like this too, but as stated, missing title and junk engine, 6300 is too high.

I wonder if title "missing" just means he lost it or if there's not a title at all...

agreed - I don't love the half cab look with the short bed (although its not horrible). Wonder is a cj6 meyers hardtop would fit - probability says it would be unlikely. Maybe it would just be a bikini top type wheeling vehicle.

I like it and have been thinking of doing just this to my 83. This would save me a ton of time. The one big thing that makes me wonder is what's behind all that full body armor. Dents I don't mind, but hate rust. Going to contact and see what he says about rust.

It doesn't look like it'd be too much work to make a nice ride out of that. I think a front bumper and some 33x10.5s would look good on it. The title situation does need to be sorted out though.

James finally talked to him today. Seems like a descent enough guy. He has a title that matches the tags, but that comes back to a cj7. He does have a CJ8 title, but only the firewall plate. I'm at a reasonable price with him, waiting for some under belly pictures. He sent some and I'm impressed with the lack of rust. No rust behind the armor, but crappy prep work on the painted armor. I'm thinking hard about this one. Shipping is gonna be pricey , unless I drive out, but this time of year, you may never hear back from me, until they find my body under the snow in spring.

I would buy a CJ6 and cut the door opening before I bobbed a cj8 tub. 8's seem to be worth a lot more.

I think I prefer the cj8 frame (boxed) and ready for better aftermarket spring upgrades and wide track axles than an open channel cj6 with narrow track axles...at the same time, I probably wouldn't bob a cj8 if I had a nice one....but buying one that has already been bobbed....I can barely justify the cj5 i have now and can barely keep it on the road and trail...wish I had the skill and commitment to build something like that though.

What else do you need besides a title and firewall plate? Dash sticker? Talk to Maury for one of those.

Windshield vin tag. Also title right now is for a cj7. Has both tags for the cj7 and title for that. But only firewall plate for another 8.

Shipping for the non running scrambler so far are all coming in over $2200.

Considering its bobbed - it could easily pass as a cj7 around here....just say its an extended cj7. To me, something this 'custom' of a build, it doesn't really matter what the title claims to be....Getting it through emissions would be the bigger question around here as it wouldn't qualify for exempt status based on age (the 70cj5 is exempt).

Yeh, around here it would not have to pass emissions at all. After a certain age, they no longer are required to take emission , just safety. A friend of mine also to go with the cj7 title. If I can work out shipping details and again get it low enough, I've got the right price. I think he might be able to pull it part way, then the whole plan might work. I just can't seeing paying that much shipping.

I hadn't considered the boxed frame and wider rear track. Good points.

Just cant make this work. Price is good now, but cant bring myself to pay that much for shipping. Every price so far is over 2K. Waiting a little bit more for lower prices, but not holding out hope. And not driving out this time of year.
