This is by far the best part of Willie-ing, my assistant in training. I'm sure he will get to inherit Willie. As grandsons go, he pretty top notch if I do say so myself. He's still got to learn which tools are which when I ask for one, but his eagerness makes up for his lack of knowledge.

My new mechanic doing more work putting new 11" Bendix on the rear. At 3 he already is concerned on getting the lock nuts all on first then the nuts AND making sure he got them all finger tight first.

Grease doesn't bother him. Then we moved on to pulling the diff cover to check it out and change fluids. Like the original headline....Best part of Willie.

Yep. I'm very, very fortunate in that not only is he my namesake, but wants to just spend every minute with Grampee.

Yep I think it's the education or the process as they seem to bond to someone they respect ( beyond the obvious relationship ) and knowledge base they seem to desire even at a young age...........I know my 8 yr old GS is a sponge for learning and has been for years.......be it in the shop......at the race track , shooting , playing catch , working on projects , cleaning the pond and the things that come out of his mouth that sometimes make me laugh & bite my tongue before I even attempt an answer.............while thinking where did he come up with that question?..................

    It only gets better......enjoy!

    Too cool,
I heard a guy say that his dad dragged home an old Jeep to restore. He remembered helping his father work on it in the driveway. He said he would hold the flashlight and mostly blinded his father helping him. His memory was of his father telling him, "here is where I need the light, son". He said he loved the time they spent together and the Jeep probably took longer to complete because he was helping, but those times were some of the greatest memories he had now in his old age.
When I was about 8, my dad would go by the Jeep dealership on our way to the mountains and we would get the latest Jeep brochure and test drive a Jeep, just because he knew I loved them. Still have the old brochures from the 1970 CJ5 and remember riding in them as my father test drove them.

    Making some priceless memories there.

    Dave
