My 1960 cj5 has the driver’s bench seat. It has been recovered but some of the springs are weak and rusted. Has anyone replaced the spring with foam? If so, anyone have any pictures of what they did? Are there any other options?

I know that seat springs (the wavy rods under the padding) are available and can be replaced. I'm sure there are online articles about rebuilding bench seats, if you search. Or, an upholstery shop could rebuild your seats. The original seats are hard to come by, and worth saving.

Tim, the early seats, up through '65, used coil springs, tied together to keep spacing. The wavy rods were used to support the "new" foam seats that were introduced for '66. I would try to find an upholstery shop familiar with coil springs and have them rebuild what you have.
I have salvaged some old car seats from the mid-50's to canabalize the springs and even outer frame perimeters to rebuild my rusty parts. I would not try to use foam, unless I built a whole new frame and base in the shape of the original.
In my opinion, the old coil spring seats were the most comfortable. They were part of the "suspension" of the Jeep and made the ride much softer than any foam seats.
