So i got the new to me Bellview for the Rover. Everything is in great shape on the winch. My friend kept it inside and it shows it. I pulled the motor to look at it and it looks like it was rebuilt before it was put away in the barn. The gears look in fantastic shape. Only issue i noticed with it was the two threaded holes in the housing that the motor bolts into are damaged. One has a crack and the other has split and the piece has fallen off. I am guessing this is a common issue. My question is how have you guys repaired this?

    Thanks

Sounds like it is beyond repair....I can give you my address so you can send the motor to me....

(Just kidding you, Dan. My motor is toast and I haven't found a replacement yet.)

When i was first trying to test the winch i thought it might be dead cause it was not working at all. when i pulled the motor i was happy to see how shiney and clean it was. Then i realized i had the opposite side of the housing grounded and the motor cranked when i had the correct side grounded.

Can probably find a winch without a motor or a dead motor pretty cheap.

So I pulled it apart again and it looks like it is not as damaged as I thought. One side that I thought was cracked is fine. The broken side is broke, but I did not notice that there is sti about 1/2 of threads still in the housing. So I ended up thread a piece of rod and made a stud that threads into the housing and goes all the way into the motor. I am good to go. Still amazed how clean this winch is.
