This concerns the intermediate steering shaft on a 1972-1975 CJ.
I need qty of 2 seals for steering shaft bellcouplers.

It looks ALMOST just like the one seen here: 76-86 Jeep CJ 5 7 8 Power Steering Shaft Coupler BOOT 8132676 18018.01
That ones a 8132676 for 1976 and later CJ's with the flat sided intermediate shafts.
My intermediate shaft is 3/4" round.

Anyone have the part number for the 1972-1975 bellcoupler seal ?
Where can I find the correct 1972-1975 CJ steering coupler seals ?

My book shows that there is no bell coupling seal prior to 1976. The '76-up seal is 8132676. You can buy the coupling as 8121299 (LPS) or 998719 (WPS).

Yeah that's the correct bellcoupler number but it seems mighty strange that no seal was ever offered.
I only need the seals as my couplers are in good shape.
I wonder If the 1976 seal will fit if I grind out the flat spots.
I think it might otherwise be the same.

Boot was only offered with the lower shaft.

I had exactly the same problem with my mystery lower shaft that connects my mystery tilt column to the steering gear. It had a boot with a round end that fit the shaft, but it was too damaged to save. I ordered more than one bell coupling and boot that were *almost* right but not quite, because there were no '74 era parts that actually belonged. In the end I used a razor knife to make the square end of a Crown 8132676-type boot round, and put a clamp around it. So far so good.
