I've got a mechanical gauge in the Jeep now and a new Autometer Phantom gauge to put in. So I'm set there.

Prolly err on the side of caution again and get an oil pump from TA Performance while I'm ordering.

Ok, playing devil's advocate here. So you shim the new pump to get some breathing room for the rotors, and the oil pressure is a tad low for your stomach to bear. Could you not play with the relief valve spring to bump the PSIs up a tad?

BTW, FWIW I agree with McRuff on the scoring. I'd clean it up a bit by hand and put it back together. Oh, and don't forget to grease/vaseline the rotors so they'll prime right away. DAMHIKTO, please.

Shouldn't be an issue with low oil pressure from what I'm reading on TA Performance's catalog with their shim and oil pump kit unless you were suggesting using the setup I have now and the thicker gasket that I made? I have the one step up in pressure relief valve spring in there now.

    My head hurts now. R)

BTW, you can see Vasoline around the edges of the housing if you look close. ;)

Hey, just reading up on your prediciment,(feel for you man), but have you determined if the metal from the distributer drive has done any damage to the rest of your engine? Have you dopped the pan and cleaned it out? Just mention this out of learning the hard way, would really hate to see it happen to someone else.

Yeah, I already dropped the pan, found one tooth, that was it. Cleaned out the timing cover area with brake cleaner, 2 cans. There shouldn't be anything too big that got past the oil pickup screen or filter after that to cause any problems that I can figure.

Nice right up sparky! Keep monitoring the oil press, and well, if the backfire and die thing happens again you will know where to start!;) Keep the muddy side down and enjoy!
