Axles

How do you tell what type of axles your Commando has? Because my front axle is missing one hub, the other damaged, and missing the pumpkin cover. I believe my Commando is a 69. the serial# is 29593.

 

take a look at any of the gear vendors such as Yukon etc and they will have an ID guide to help you out..

 

The front axle should be a D27, is there a vent on the top of the differental?

 

Front is a D27, axle shafts are 10 spline when you get to looking for locking hubs. Rear is most likely a D30 although there is a very slim possibility it's a D44 with splined axles, not very common though. Um, yeah, the D 30 rear isn't the best. I broke mine on a trail, didn't even know I did until I was on the road home.
I found a flanged 44 to replace it.
