Axle Q's

    I have turned down the hubs off of a 14 bolt truck axle to allow for 5x5.5" wheels and brake rotors. Weld the 14 bolt spindles to the Dana 44 tubes. You could go all out and order an ARB locker with the 1.42" 33 spline shaft, and get the shafts made by Moser or Dutchman.

    Without the ARB, this is way cheaper than the warn kit and stronger. The shafts were $300 from Moser. I spent another $300 doing the rear disk brakes while I was at it. The 14 bolt that I sacrificed was free, I posted a wanted ad on a local BB. I took the hubs to work and turned them down myself, so I saved some $$ there. The hubs are very easy to turn, took about 20 minutes per side for an amatuer like me.

    I don't have any right now as my digital camera and greasy paws don't mix well...... but I will try and get some for you. The only thing I would do different is to use a 1/2 truck rotors instead of the 77 CJ7 rotors I used. They have the right backspacing and would make it so you could just buy a bolt on disk brake bracket like these(http://www.greatlakeoffroad.com/) and use caddy calipers or chev truck calipers if the parking brake is transfer case mounted. The brackets are well worht the $75 he asks.
