Another board member (who shall remain nameless but owns a white Jeep) sent me this link to a LC owner who used Astro Van power steering:

Looks like it puts the box behind the grill/crossmember.

Any thoughts to doing this on SSDutch? It appeals to the Dutch side of things since I'm likely to get the parts with the donor vehicle...

I think that would put your shaft right throught the motor mount. Even if you could get it to work I think the exhaust would be in the way.

Don't see why you couldn't use the box and hoses and do a conventional setup.

Mike you just need to look at the Astro van that is being used, I had 2 of them , the first one was an 89, the steering in it was good and not to quick, the 91 extended that we had, I got rid of because if you sneezed while driving the dam thing would change lanes due to the overly quick steering, the power steering and the brake unit were also tied together somehow on this one and I cannot remember how.
You will also have to put the steering box between your grill and the front bumper it wont fit any other way.

I guess thats what you call it. The power steering unit was tied into the vacuum booster and master cylinder and it really sucked.
