are aftermarket timing chains worth it???

    After i get my tranny in i am going to swap in a new timing chain. is it worth it for the aftermarket kind or should i stick with the stock chain. and which brand is better??

    After market timing chains work well. I haven't had any problems with them.

    So does a standard chain. It depends on what you're going to do and what kind of RPM you plan on hitting. Anything is better than the nylon gear that some of them came with.

    Steel is definitely the way to go, unless of course you LIKE changing timing chains... ;)

    Dan,
    FWIW, I put the Edelbrock chain in mine about 2 years ago and have had no problems and the timing has not moved one bit. But, anything would have been better than the old one with the worn out tensioners. Don't have to worry about tensioners with the Edelbrock set.....

    OK it looks like i should go with the edelbrock chain set.
