Hey gang, doesn't seem to be a topic that gets brought up much, but I thought I'd share. I was exploring a new (to me) nut/bolt/screw place in my area and was nosing around. Like a giant swap meet of all kinds of fasteners. Anyways, I found some milspec machine screws that are tapered philips head 1/4"x28 screws. Whole dang box of them. Now, they're not dead nuts exact, (don't have the locking ribs on the tapered part, and seems to be some sort of alloy) but with a little paint, they would pass for the correct screw from the outside.

If interested, I'd be happy to pick up a batch for anyone needing them.

Sounds great, I could use some. Might be easier to just pick 'em up at the local TSC tho.

Do they have them? These are the only ones I found that were philips head screws.

That and I'm not aware of a TSC nearby....

I know this is an old thread. Does anyone have a good source for windshield hinge screws for a 1969 cj5?

Bringing this thread back from the dead!

Does anyone have a source for the windshield hinge bolts (5/16 - 24 flat head machine screw)? All I can find is allen head. I'd like to find some phillips head in zinc or nickel.

    Thanks!

Original philips screws (used) show up on eBay with some regularity. They are same as Willys wagons and truck door hinge screws, and even have the locking ridges under the head.

The screws for the frame are 5/16 - 24. The ones linked from Ebay are 5/16 - 18. Fine thread is the correct one.

yep, there were some -24's in the first of the list, but they were either star or allen head. There's just about every kind on McMaster Car's site. 2x for old ones on ebay.

It looks like your original screws are pretty popular! I got my order in. What other goodies are you sitting on?
