i honestly think the bds kit is the nicest money i've spent on my cj so far... only one problem came from it. the wraps were so high that they hit my draglink whenever i hit a bump in the road. but from what i've read it'd be the same thing with the 4wd hardware kit. really the warranty is what sold me.

hey billy, are those shackles an at-home project? mine are looking a bit beaten and i've been looking for some tough/cheap ones for a while... and them greaseable bolts look nice hanging on there.

How is it Billy that you have no blood stains on your tools but you managed to leave about a quart of AB+ all over my garage? Next time I'm over at your place I'm leaving blood.
And Erik, Billy sold me on BDS as well. Hey Billy are you getting any kickbacks for pushing BDS? "For every BDS kit sold Billy gets 1 leaf spring," Bob.

    Time to hit the books.

Eric not trying to push Rough Country on you, I have run the 3+" kit for over 4 years on the YJ. I bent one at our last Windrock ride, I called them and they sent me two new front springs packs for $30 a piece.
Go with your what your heart and mind tell ya.
If you go BDS and dont like 'em sell 'em here to some one and try another brand.

    Are your shackles stock now?
If so I'd swap 'em out for some stronger ones, just dont go crazy with the lift shackles. 0.5" is fine.

You can tell if they are stock, it'll just be 2 steel plates. Most aftermarket ones will have a brace across them in the middle. And lots beefier.

FWIW, fellow forum member DrewDog runs the 2.5" BDS on his Early 5. He's run the Tioga trails with us, and it flexes very well. I believe Drew has no complaints with the BDS. From watching his rig work, I think you can't go wrong buying BDS.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but since we are talking about the 2.5" lift...

Is there any more to it than suspension? By that I mean do you have to change anything with the driveshaft angle/length or anything else? Is the 2.5" keep everything else stock?

    Thanks...

The 2.5" should keep everything stock, You may need longer brake lines if the kit doesn't have new mounts to lower the lines.

i think i am going to also get the .5" con fer shackles, but i dont think i will need anything elses since my brake lines are fine now with the older lift in it. btw i cant seem to find a site that sells the shackles???

I installed a black diamond 3" lift last winter, it has military wrap springs, came with shocks and bushings and u-bolts. Price was right. I think it rides pretty good. The front springs have started to sag a little but there is a buick 350 sitting on top of them. I kind of expected a little sag. Gravity sucks.

i recall lynn suggesting something like an inch shackles for the passenger side and an 1 1/4" for the drivers side to compensate for the "jeep lean"... don't quote me on it though

my jeep leans the opposite way right now, but i think thats do to the sagging springs and shot shocks
