    Hi all,

While admiring the small petcock that is designed to drain coolant from the block (assuming you can open it)... I took a good look at this:

On the 6 volt models there was a brace from the back of the starter that bolted to that boss on the block, but the bracket had a hole in it, not sure what that bracket is in aid of.

"On the 6 volt models there was a brace from the back of the starter that bolted to that boss on the block"

Which would also assist electrical grounding and reduce voltage drop.

Are not some of the starters, like maybe the one with the foot-pedal, longer than others. That would certainly be in a good position to even out the weight distribution, wouldn't it?

The 6 volt models are a bit longer than the 12 volt ones, the end plates have a tab on them that bolt to the aforementioned bracket. Frankly I don't think having the bracket there really makes any difference for supporting the starter or for a grounf return path.

I'd certainly agree with Howard on both counts, going on instinct. But I've been told by experts about the grounding. I wonder how much it really does. (Every amp counts at six volts.)
