I could really use this space for other things I haven't used it in yrs I have gas torches and a mig already I think it's time for this to go away ... probably needs things to be cleaned up on the inside ....probably corroded contacts but it did fire up and melt some rods today .....had it for sale for $100 .nobody interested .thinking it might be worth that just in scrap copper ...the cables look great I will prob take it apart and scavage the copper and use those leads to move the battery to the trunk of the Olds.

Isn't this like all the other Lincoln tombstones? I'm no welder, but I think this thing has value to someone who wants to weld heavier steel than your typical 110V MIG can handle. SMAW (stick welding) also has the advantage of working well outdoors, IIRC, so you would not need to worry as much about setting your garage on fire.

Scratch start tig? Get into the aluminium for lighter drivetrain protection, or start the process for fuel injection by making a surge tank.

This is assuming its ac/dc stick welder,

That would be cool to have. Ive got an old craftsman stick welder for the reason tim states. Don't use it much but when i jave something thick to weld it works good.

I would buy it but the road trip to get it would be a deal breaker. I had one but when my garage got broke into a couple of years ago it walked away.

The unit pictured is older than what is usually referred to as a "Tombstone". Easy way to ID these welders is the large hand wheel on the face. These were equipped with copper wound transformers = HEAVY. very simple, lots of info on Welders Web. Good luck!
