    I recently aquired some NOS exhaust pipes from a friend who's getting to old for this stuff & wants to sell off everything while he still can. I wound up with a pile of NOS exhaust pipes. The 4 cylinder pipes I can pretty much sort out, same with the flat-head 6 stuff, but there's some bigger ones in the pile with AMC part numbers on them. The shipping dates indicate that they are from the mid '70's. If I could read some of the (faded) numbers is there any way to look up what vehicle these things are for? on-line?

    Thanx!

    I'll try to decipher what's on the tags & send you what I find. Some of the tags literally have a list of numbers on them.

    Thanx!

    you're looking for numbers like this:
    999732
    or
    5354368
    usually, very top midlle of the tag, maybe off to the right a little
    the numbers will be either 6 or 7 digits long

    Thanx! These tags are much older, but very similar.....except for the IBM punch card (remember those!?). Some of this is self evident & two pipes have no info & in fact may be for a 6 cyl. AMC car of the era. I'll list it all, as maybe these numbers will help somebody else:
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    OK, even I can figure out this one; it's for a 1954 to '58 6 cyl. wagon, but will it fit the trucks? & why won't it fit wagons up to '62 when the 230 OHC 6 came to being?

    looks like a tailpipe from the muffler back to the end
    P-825
    Willys 54-58
    6 cyl. 4WD
    Sta. Wagon
    Replaces 906527

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    looks like more tailpipes
    AP 6P
    270
    Willys
    47-52 4-6 ???
    4-63, 4-73.
    6-63, 6-73
    Replaces 641777

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    More tailpipes, exactly like the ones above (AP 6P 270) but are slightly longer, maybe 8" or so. Notice that they are for the Maverick! Cool!

    AP 6P
    427
    Willys 52-54
    475, 685, Sta.
    Wagon 59-62, 581
    Maverick
    Replaces 802682

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mounts to manifold, seems to be large enough to be for a V8
    Dated 10-23-72 in hand written red ink
    Packed as a pair
    Group no. 4.178 Qty. 2
    PN 0005351253000
    Pipe

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Very similar to the above, could be the same except for maybe clearance for AC or something????

    Jeep Corp.
    5351312

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here's a tailpipe with a whole list of part numbers, but then I found another tag that's probably the one we want;

    02/04/75
    005354534000

    Here's the other numbers that are on a list of numbers labled as part numbers tied to the same pipe. One of the other pipes had a flange tied to it & I though that maybe the other numbers were for that & other mounting hardware, but this is just a tail pipe...
    Group no. part number
    0004 000805784000
    9027 000926544000
    9364 000998092000
    9072 000998445000

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    This one mounts to the manifold. I also have one just like it that is shorter by about 5" but it may have been cut too short during a botched installation effort & tossed back into stock.

    AP 4X
    195
    Willys
    47-52
    4-63, 4-73
    Replaces 641703

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    I appreciate any help I can get!

    the AP numbers are aftermarket, I have no listing for their number system.
    I can help with the AMC numbers:
    5351312 = 1973 258 CJ header pipe
    5351253 = 1973 Commando, 258 manual trans header pipe
    5354534 = 1975 Wagoneer 258 tailpipe
    appears he was collecting 258 pipes to assemble a system ?

    Thanx Jim!

    No, he bought out as much as he could afford of a small jeep dealership that went out of business in the late '70's or early '80's in Brodhead, WI (I think I spelled it right, it's south of Madison, WI somewhere). It was an "all or none" deal. Basically, after the dealer sold off all the choice stuff to other dealers or customers my friend bought what was left. This pile of pipes is part of what he had left from that sale. There isn't much more of anything left, certainly no more NOS stuff. Thanx again!!! now I gotta decide what to keep for myself (it seems I'm always buying old jeeps) & what to sell to make room for more old jeeps!
