    The alt went out on my 57 CJ5. Just for fun I went to a couple of the chain auto parts store to hear their reaction when they try to find a 1957 anything in their computer. I did find a place in Mt. Airy (Mayberry) NC that did an excellent job rebuilding alternators, generators, and starters. They are Linback-Ledford Electric. Very reasonable, they rebuilt my Alt for $32. Also quick turnaround time. If you are in the Triad or Foothills of NC or southern VA this may be a place to check out.
