OK, today is the first time that I've had a chance to fool with the new ('66) Jeep. Coated it with engine cleaner, and pressure washed the engine, set the idle down to less than half throttle, and generally fooled with it.

I need to do an Oil change, What oil is recommended for a '66 225?

Also will change the plugs and set the timing (seems to have POINTS!) so this is an engine I can understand! What is the recommended timing and gap for the points and plugs?

Other than that, it seems to be in good shape! The clutch action is very stiff and the engagement is quite abrupt. Anyone have any ideas?

Final point, it has a stereo installed by a moron, and it HAS to go. AM/FM is good enough for me, will keep the two speakers mounted in the dash so the son gets the fancy stereo with the CD player.

Got under the rig for the first time, can see paint on the frame, and NO RUST holes, body is fiberglass (except for the grill) engine seems to run well enough...for the $2000 I bid on eBay, this is a GOOD deal and I'm very pleased.

Many thanks in advance for the help, have had a great resonse from you guys so far and look forward to more interaction.

    Many thanks!

I use rotella 15w-40. been using it for years.

about the clutch: grease the cross shaft, and any thing else that moves FREQUENTLY.

I use 20W-50 Castrol GTX. Timing should be set at about 5 degrees with the points gapped at .016 (30 degrees dwell). Plugs are gapped at .035.
