Well, with the moving, I was getting to where I have to gather up all the heavy ju....ehr, stuff that I want to keep, but is awfully awkward to move. Not to mention that I can't really box any of it up. That is, until now! :D

I had some leftover plywood and 2x3's from my truck/trailer sides project, and on the way to work, I saw a flatbed truck with a bunch of those expanded metal boxes with all kinds of loose scrap in it. I got to thinking about it, and with the addition of wheels, it was exactly what I needed.

I've got about 400 lbs in it I'm guessing, and I can still move it around reasonably easy. Two of us should be able to get it on the trailer using the ramps. A heck of a lot better than all that stuff just thrown in the back of the truck loose, and then into my garage. The casters are 3" with a 200 lb rating each. The plywood and 2x3's are glued and screwed.

I can also see this being useful for those of you involved in Jeep projects. Just throw all the loose stuff in there, and not only will you still have shelf space available and keep track of your stuff, but you can wheel it out of the way when you need to.

This is a great idea. And I am moving this week also. Happen to have an old sheet of plywood and plenty of scrap.

Very nice! We did something similar to keep all of our smaller pieces of steel plate in. I had a good solid wooden crate that I got in here and confiscated for the task. I just wish we would have thought ahead and put casters under it. It is way too close to the fridge in the shop and has probably 800lbs of steel in it now.
