If you have the original style windshied on the 58, the answer is no. You'll need a 1976-up windshield to make it work. Tubs are the same, though.

good work and thanks for replies....yes I have original 58' windshield frame. My curiosity now has me asking what won't fit? The channel incorrect for the top insert on the WS frame? Overall fitment? If the tub fitment is good - geez, I'm 90% there....txs... Sparky thanks for link to framestyles...Sorry to stretch this thread but I'm determined to get a good deal... It,s only to keep my hard head dry when I plow...

Too narrow for the original WS, note JD7's post.

What won't fit is the width of the top at the windshield. 76-up windshield frames are wider. Therefore if you put the 76-up top on the 58 windshield the top will be too narrow. Lots of people switch to the later frame, the wiper setup is better, as well as it giving you a lot more top options at reasonable prices. A fiberglass hardtop is pretty much unavailable for the early style, but they're relatively plentiful for the 76-up.

If it's a really good deal, get it and try it out. It will just not be the full width of your windshield, might not matter to you. You can always sell it.

Then again, all I've got is a bikini top, and a good set of gortex.

The '76-on windshield tilts back more too (as well as being narrower across the width of the Jeep), so the top will be too short.
