Looking for something original for the hood blocks. My uncles used wooden dowels in the 80's. I have used original wood blocks with pipe insulation on top. Any ideas for rubber blocks or something creative to save paint on windshield frame but also clear the hood and still look nice???? Got any cool ideas....

Had the same problem 30 some years back. Just couldn't bring myself to use those wood blocks. Solution: FJ40

If you want the stock look, you could probably recontour on a belt sander.

Well, yeah you don't even fold the freakin' windshield down, or open the hood the full way.... what would you need them for?

FWIW Mine are red oak that I ripped and cut to what I found pleasing, soaked in motor oil for ~2 weeks and are holding up just fine.

Are the FJ40 rubber blocks or hard plastic?

How about rubber or Poly suspension bump stops if not going for originality? Probably softer than hockey pucks/etc.

Rubber, with two molded in studs, 8x1.25 mm. They last about 20 years before they start to crack, or at least the first set I had did. Available from any of the Toyoda suppliers or the dealers. Caution: addition of these to a Jeep may cause your gas pedal to stick.
