This is going to be a 5 month thread, I will be trying to get as much done as possible before heading back out west. I try to go out every year since I quit working. My wife's family has all moved California so it works out. (Her parents health is failing) She visits the family, I go to the desert.

There are several things I hope to get done.

I have two rplc front fenders, one can just be painted and installed the other needs to be modified.

I have two Rugged Ridge rear corners, I use Chevy Blazer 73-87 tail lights and I now have the body forms to install them properly.

    The tail gate needs rebuilt

To scrape as much rust and flaky paint as I can reach

Areas that I can't reach to coat with Fluid Film

Areas that I can reach Paint with Chassis Saver

And last to repaint as much as possible of the outside body

If time permits, drop the 22 gal gas tank and install a universal gauge sending unit.

    Replace speedometer cable

If it stops raining today I will get starting pix
    Jay

p.s. Guess i need to get a BeamingPix acct.

I actually went looking for a SS hardware kit. There used to be one for 76-78 but not any more, that I can find.

Possibly but I have everything installed except the O2 sensor bung. Which has stalled me for over a year. No one in Pa will do any exhaust work on my Jeep, I have to go to Ohio anytime I need help. And last time the shop said " Just leave it here and we will have it done by tomorrow" I was born at night etc...... So we'll see

Well there is work to do. When I was younger I used to repair myself.
Then with pain in shoulder I give to the shop. Local shop, the one who repairs old tractors and farming machines. 3 or 4 months delay. Cash money. Helping and discussing a bit in tbe shop with other customers. Country rules.
    The Jeep is perfect now.
but not sure to keep it if I see troubles coming.
I bought a new car, kept the old one that is enough for me. Life is nice and goes on quietly.(y)

That exhaust though... I'd like to see a full shot but it looks like it's kind of crowded in there. Lots of fun work there!

and the crowding is worse because I have SS heat shielding over most of the pipe.
Still....... I will try to get some shots of the exhaust. I don't have a bender but I have cut and welded and it's not too bad. I had flow masters installed but they rusted out last year, they lasted two years. I run straight pipe to the stacks and it sounds the same, :)

Should I put Fluid Film on the rust until I can apply Chassis saver or would that effect how Chassis Saver works??

While I would love to make this look show room worthy again, the wallet says no.
This is what I did on my son's 65cj

I also have the cowl from a 79cj that the embossing is still intact, So I will cut those out and replace mine.

not much progress today. Yesterday while it was still warm (58deg) I put up the storm windows. Today, used the wire cup wheel to remove more rust and removed the fender flare. Went looking for my sheet steel, the 18 awg piece is about 3' x 3'. The 16awg piece is buried, I saw it but didn't get to it today. I also got the cars arraigned in the driveway, it's supposed to snow tonight ;)

A quick warning, I bought a 55-75 CJ stainless body hardware kit for my 58 CJ5 and at best was only able to use half the hardware. Most of the supplied hardware was wrong for my jeep. Hard to say how accurate the above kit is. You might be money ahead to wait and just source the exact nuts & bolts you need rather than relying on what my end up a generic CJ bolt kit.
