I got the dash almost all the way off, its unbolted just 2 screws holding it up for the windshield latch.

Now, im taking steering column and dash out of my 72 CJ5. Dash is fiberglass, steering is stock (yuck im 24), and only the speedo works none other gauges work.... should I just cut the wiring and get new gauges? or keep the wiring harness and try to remove it all myself? Im just not good with electrical things, but about anything else I can do... I took fenders grill hood off... seats out... body is almost off... dash is unbolted... took turn signal off column... i put in new valve cover gasket last month and donut gasket, I can turn wrenches and I know alot about my CJ... brother had a CJ7 7-8 years ago... just need help with wiring bc the gauges and wiring is holding me up.

If the dash harness is worth saving don't cut anything. It's too expensive to replace. Get a piece of paper and start taking notes and making diagrams. Write down wires colors and where they came from. Try to keep the harness as complete as possible, leaving some things hooked up if it's possible to remove it without disconnecting it.

The '72 TSM is online at http://trailforge.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=30

The '72 manual has line drawings of the wiring and the harness routing - very easy to use. The harness on a '72 is very simple as such things go, and you can repair it easily. There is no fuse block - the few fuses are inline with the harness. You can also buy a hot rod wiring harness (Painless, EZ Wire, etc.) and rewire all the circuits, but I would not unless the harness is badly burnt.

Wiring is easy - just take it one circuit at a time, and don't get overwhelmed.
