With a little coaching, I got this to follow me home today. It is a little rougher than it looks in the pics but it is not too bad. I have 3 Jeeps now.

Basically stock 304 V8, 3 spd (t14?) ,d20, d30 w/disc, and a 44 out back. Roll cage ties to the frame. No power brakes or power steering

T-15. Had drums all around originally, so it was converted if it has disks now. Check the axle ratio - 3.73 standard, 4.27 optional. Unfortunately the 4.27s are not as plentiful as they should be.

The 304 with a T-15 is a good, solid combination. If there's anything to fault, the T-15/D20 combo does not have a very deep low range, so it's not a great rock crawler, especially if it has 3.73 gears. Fortunately the 304 has pretty good power, so you usually don't need a lot of revs to crawl over obstacles.

These Jeeps were originally delivered with a clutch cable, and many got converted to a bell crank (mechanical linkage) under a Jeep Service Bulletin. The bell crank does not work when you're twisted up, one front wheel stuffed and the other hanging.

hopefully the 4.27 haven't got that far yet. Don't know about any lockers in the axles yet. Guy I bought it from didn't know anything about it except it was a Jeep

I have the bell crank linkage and have only had trouble once on a really off camber opposite side stuffed situation. (Left front stuffed right rear stuffed four people in the jeep)

It's a '73. Should have a VIN plate under the hood, and a VIN starting with J3. Gauges are right for '73 too ... I should have noticed that.

Got the front bumper up against a tree that way once, and had to cut the tree down to escape.

Yea, drove it right on there. It runs a little rough, but it has been setting for about a year according to the PO. It has an Offy intake and a Edelbrock carb. I'm sure i'll have to clean out the carb and do the tune up basics at least. Got some brake work to do to.
    thanks

Nice start! If it has discs make sure the front gear ratio matches the rear. Someone may have swapped a complete front axle with a different ratio.
