Please help. Just got my 258 rebuilt and back in. Made sure to get it on TDC and timming mark set to zero. It blows out black smoke and and idles a little rough. Put in new plugs and tried to set the idle / mixture screw in and back out like the manual says. It has a carter one barrel carb on it . If any one has any input Please let me Know. Thanks,
    James

Timing should be set to about 8-10 degrees at idle. Set the idle mix screw 1 1/2 turns from the seat. Should run enough to get you close then adjust the idle mixture untill you have maximum rpm then reset the idle speed, shoot for 700rpm.

Most auto parts stores should have one in their loaner/rental tools.
