Anyone have a pic of '67 tail lights? PO slapped the box style on there. Were there backup lights? Good source for them? Need to figure out what God had originally intended it to look like.

Those are correct for later CJ5s, I believe starting in '69. Before that would be the Hall 701. Walcks sells what looks like a good reproduction.

My 67 did not have back up lights. Don't know if those were an option or not. Hall 701 would be the correct look. If you find some with the original lens that is nice. You don't see too many of those and the replacements are not manufactured with the reflector.

There is a good image of the original lens on this product. Wow$er that is a lot but if you really want original...

My '69 has tail lights like those. The lens is held in with a ring clip, not screws. It also has two back up lights.

Re the backup lights, I'm not sure what the exact year was for them. In this era, the model years were not that distinct - often the title was assigned the year of the sale rather than the year of production ... or not. So the evidence will be blurry. They were required by NHTSA sometime in the '67-68 time frame.

You could look for clues. The backup light position is well known and did not change, and there should be holes there if it had backup lights -

Also, there should be a backup light switch and wiring on the top of the transmission. The switch is activated by the reverse shifter rail.

Those Tux lights are completely rusted out at the bottom. That clown has been trying to sell them for gold for months, at least.

Here's an original back up light, off my '70

    20170409_070132.jpg

IIRC (& relying on my fuzzy memory) the location of these changed in mid 70 with the introduction of the rear gas tank. The older ones were about where the filler neck for the rear tank is located.

backup lights showed up when the T14 arrived with a backup light switch on trans. the T86 has no provision for a switch so prior to late 1967
there won't be any factory installed backup lights. That has been my observation anyhow.

For what its worth, even the T90 eventually got a switch mounted on the shifter housing too. I have one from a '69 CJ5.

One would assume so. The F134 got the T-90 through 1971, and the law would require those Jeeps to have backup lights.
