does anyone have a picture of what the ignition coil bracket looks like on a 1966 dauntless?Does it have one or two holes? And does it mount on the intake manifold on the passenger side?My wires were cut and the coil was moved to the firewall.

I hope this is helpful rather than confusing, but there were actually several different coil brackets in different locations that were used on the Dauntless during the 1966-67 time frame. This post shows the three that I'm aware of to date. These are in chronological order, with the earliest shown first and the latest shown last:

yes I looked at those pictures.mine had to be there on the intake under the oil bath because there is a threaded stud there and the wires ended there but someone before me extended the wires and mounted the coil on the firewall.I guess what I'm asking what does the coil bracket look like for that location?

The only photos I've seen that show the coil in that location are the ones in that same thread - but maybe someone with a '66 Dauntless can post some better photos of that bracket.

As you probably know, many of the external motor parts used on the Dauntless were actually GM parts. The particular coil bracket you're looking for may very well be one of these. This reproduction Pontiac bracket appears to be extremely similar - if not identical - to the original Dauntless bracket shown in the enlargement above:

No idea if mine is original, but the bracket on my 198 looks nearly identical to what maurywhurt posted.

That's the coil I have, and it's mounted on the DRIVER'S side using a bolt on the intake manifold.

On my (Aug. 1966 manufactured) '67, I also have that same coil bracket mounted on the driver's side intake manifold:

Apparently this location was used only on the (mid?) 1966 through the early '67 Dauntless.

That's a rather generic bracket. I'd guess it was supplied by the OEM coil maker, Delco or competitor.

    This bracket

    is what my 304 has.

In the book, there is the "coil bracket" that goes around the coil, and the "coil bracket" that bolts to the engine. Suspect this type of bracket is for vertical mounting, and the 1-tab bracket is for horizontal mounting. Possible both of these schemes were used on 225s.

Tim, the difference in the bracket on my '67 (and the brackets that mounted on the passenger side of the intake manifold on the '65 / early '66 Dauntless) is that there's only one mounting hole, as in the Pontiac bracket shown above.
