Tried a search for this and did not turn up anything.R)

I am in debate with myself about changing my mangled hood and front fenders from the Willys CJ5 parts to the ones from the AMC CJ5. I know they are longer, but am wondering if any of the intrepid souls on here have tried this? Seems to be plenty of room in front of the grill to move it out forward on the frame. Or am I just getting senile (a distinct possibility).:?

Your tires will hit the inside rear of the fenders unless you lengthen the wheelbase.

Sounds like a good reason to box and extend the front frame and lengthen the wheel base.

Why are you wanting to go this route? Unless you're wanting to extend the WB anyway, or are wanting room for an I6....

X2. The correct sheetmetal for your Jeep is far from hard to find...

Hmm last time I looked the Willys and AMC CJ-5 is the same. When AMC went to the CJ-7 they added length to the cowl area so they could install their I6 and V8 engines.

Hmm, no they are not all the same. They did that in the CJ5. Note the
    fender area.

As Panzer pointed out, the length was added to the fender area, as well as lengthening the wheelbase, starting in 1972, so AMC could fit their I6.

The correct sheetmetal is available but at twice to three times the price of what the sheet metal for the AMC is. :hurrican:

Plus am debating on a inline six.:coffee:

sell it and get a jeep with a I-6 in it already, really not worth the hassle. I got two fenders on ebay, original with no rust shipped to my door for $230 from (out west to Pa) a while ago. even if the fenders where 3 times the cost it would be way easier and cheaper then fooling with the wrong fenders and I-6.
