I might turn a rod to the inner diameter and with a lot of heat and hammering, while holding it on a vise try to reproduce the curvature of that bottom piece. But trying with thinner steel first is definitively a great idea. Thanks!

The easy part is done. All the holes have been plugged and whatever is left of the gate has been primed. As soon as I go back to work I will try the bottom part.

Please, raise your hand if this has happened to you. The more holes/patches you do, the more there are. When I think I'm about to finish, a few more holes that I was sure weren't there yesterday show up!:banghead:

If anyone was waiting for some members of the forum to try the tailgate repair sections, wait no more! The short section I purchased was amazing! Very straight and fits the pins very snug. I had some concerns about the width of the part, since my tailgate was rusted all the way to the begining of the rib centered on the Willy's sign. I actually had to trim it a little, which it was what I wanted so I could fit it properly. It was probably the easiest sheet metal repair I had done on my tub. And that is saying a lot! After spot welding the section I tinned it to fill all the holes
and then I smoothed it with a flap disc.
Since we have a saying here: " pics or it didn't happen", here they are...

Are these holes supposed to be here or those are another creation of the PO?

Thanks! I can probably make my own. When I got the jeep it was missing a bunch of stuff, that is why sometimes I have no clue what goes where. :study:

To those who succesfuly completed the fuel tank relocation I have an issue I might need help solving. Now the part of the tank where the fuel sender is, touches one of the ribs of the bed, lifting the tub about an inch. I am inclined to cut it but I would like to hear how other people have addressed this issue. Is this something that would self adjust with the rubber mounts? I plan to put the 1/4 thick ones, but if I need to go thicker I would.
