56 Cj5 Seat Restoration

    I have the original seats from a 56 cj5. I can find seat covers and spring replacements but not sure which route to go with new cushions. The original seats have a straw stuffing in them.
    Would like to know what everyone is doing to get the original seats restored.
    Would like to keep original frames

    I've never seen straw stuffing the seats, but yours are a little earlier than mine. Seats from the early to mid-1960s had burlap over the springs with cotton batting over that.

    Mine had the cotton batting as well, replaced with heavy duty foam. i used light weight canvas to replace the hessian over the springs.

    You sure it was not Excelsior?

    Now I'll have to go check the old seats from my '56.

    I’m not familiar with Excelsior.
    What would you recommend to use for re-doing my seats

    Thanks. Yes I believe that’s what is in my seats. Now I need a replacement
