Just seeing the overflow tube dangling from the radiator cap drove me to purchase a radiator overflow bottle. I looked for a "bottom" connection and did not find one, and the tech manual seems to indicate this Jeep did not use a separate bottle- describes the radiator's top row as essentially the expansion tank. Is this indeed the case? Thanks.

with a regular radiator cap and no bottle, when the water/coolant temp and pressure rise, it pushes by the cap and onto the ground; typically this can happen after the engine has been shut down-afterboil effect. This also means a lower fill level of about 1" below the opening, to keep coolant from expanding and pushing out the hose each time.

With a closed system cap and bottle, when the coolant expands, it goes into the bottle and is stored; when the engine temp cools down, it will draw the coolant back into the system if the hose reaches all the way to the bottom of the bottle/container.

the proper/only hose connection is the one under the rad cap; where ever you mount the bottle, just make sure you have enough hose to reach the bottom of the bottle.
