'48 CJ-2A build

Ok, so I went out and bought a Mercury Cougar awhile ago, trading in my trusty Jeep Cherokee. Now, I can't sleep. Sure I like my Cougar, but having never left the road in 2 months i'm getting an itch to play in the mud. So, instead of fixing up my CJ-7, which i'm selling to pay for my car, I've decided i'll bring my old CJ-2A back to life.


The beast about 2 months ago.

And now we begin with the 25 dollar Olive Drab paintjob.




If you look carefully, you can read what I put in tape on the hood: AWOL of course. There is actually a little background to this. One of my family friends passed away last Father's Day; one of my dad's best friends, and he was working on restoring a Willys MB. He was a big fan of them and get trying to get me to finish mine, even though we wanted something different; he wanted a restored Jeep and I wanted a mudflinger. Anyways, his license plate on his nearly finished Jeep read 'AWOL' and since I can't get the plates to use on my Jeep, i'll etch his memory into the hillbilly paintjob. :tup:


L-134 Flathead engine. To keep or not to keep? If I replace it it'll be with a Dauntless 225 or a 4.3L Chevy.

The fenders. Body work needs to be done? No, gonna take 'em out and paint 'em.


Carpet is in order? Nope, got undercoating for the floor, and gonna tape over the gauges and paint the dash. Forget power steering too. Gonna drive like a real man.

The project has just started. My body'll be off by tonight, and i'll be working on the brakes as soon as I get some $$$. Also, the gas tank under the seat seems a bit dangerous on this rig, so i'mma be looking for a fuel cell to put it in the bed. Thread will be updated. [/B

 

More pics: Tonight my dad and I removed the body from the frame, so we can paint the frame, do some undercoating, and put new fuel and brake lines on. Might also put in a 225 Dauntless V6.

It is for sale and will be pulled out tonight. The starter needs work, and it doesn't have the original carb/oil canister, nor air filter system. Offer away.

 

Actually, it's a Ford carb. I'm just not sure how it came to be in this Jeep. I did buy it from a farmer, and since the L-134 is of farm descent, i'm wondering if he pulled one off of his older Ford tractors.

 

Hmmmm, I need one, but right now I wouldn't even know what to offer for it. Any idea what you might want for it?? Also, bout how close to Tennessee are you up there?

 

According to Mapquest i'm 330 miles from Nashville. I'm not sure if it'd be worth it in gas. Anyways, maybe someone from here will know how much it's worth?
