Got a pretty decent almost totally stock 2a. Needs trans/transfer case rebuilt. Should I throw a bunch of parts at it or swap to a 225, t14 and make it a driver?

what on earth do you do with all of these jeeps? where do you find all of them ?
you must be the only person to keep these old buggers on the road. most people buy them, and disassemble them!

The last 4 Jeeps that I have bought, someone else called me to go buy them. It is pretty easy when people want you to come buy their pile of parts. My schedule helps as I don't work two days in a row so I can always be there today or tomorrow with cash.

Daryl doesn't disassemble jeeps- he blows 'em apart. Not all of them- just some

I watch the same CL he does- seems there are an amazing number of jeeps for sale in his area. And that's just CL

Normally I say make it yours. However on the (increasingly rare) occasion one comes across a relatively complete straight stocker ,I feel it should be kept that way. Salads and part piles do whatever you fancy.

Only a purist, (or one of us) would know the difference. Make it drivable.

225 is way easier to sell. An L head just doesn't have enough power to really drive on today's roads. Plus throwing in a transmission with a synchro first gear is huge. I really don't have any money into this one so the jury is still out.

Were there any mods or hop-up parts for the L-head engines?

I like the oversized tires on steelies.

    More photos please. :watch:

I prefer jeeps with the 4 cylinder. I'm not a huge fan of the v6. There's so many of them out there, it's getting harder to find unmolested jeeps. I say throw some PTO doo dads on and someone will want it to restore.

I think you need to paint your tow rig with a willys emblem or something. (y)

Modernize it with a 12 volt system and leave everything else original

Looks pretty complete as is. For this one, if its as good as it looks, keep it close to stock as you can. If it was a clunker with no motor/tranny, I'd say go for what ever you wanted to do. Daryl, if your having a hard time making the call on this one, put it on a trailer for me and send it this way, so I can take that burden away from you and you can get some sleep.

I'd keep it as much like it is right now as I could.. I love the look.. maybe some safety issues like disc brakes but it's perfect otherwise..
