    This might be a techie question, don't know.
    Will a ford 4spd from a 66 ford 2+2 work in a '60 CJ5", or is that shortening up the rear driveline too much?:? :coffee:

    Your right to be concerned about the rear driveline.

    Do you want to keep the F134?

    There's no 'kit' for the T-18 to the 134 AFAIK. However, the factory sold the F134/T-98 combo, and the T-98 is the predecessor to the T-18, and functionally they are the same. They even share many dimensions and some parts. So yes, it would fit if you could do it.

    May require some time and searching, but the T-98 for the F134 can be found on the used market; that would be the easiest way mechanically to get a wide ratio 4-speed with the F134.

    I'm gonna assume this transmission is a toploader and not a t18 as the t18 was not used in cars. I don't think Novak has adapters for the toploader but Advance Adapters may have them. A toploader is a side shift and will require a separate shifter and the linkage can be a problem on a trail vehicle where stuff can get jammed in the rods.

    If it's a toploader, R&P makes an adapter according to Nick - but that only covers the TC end. You'd have to make something custom for the engine end - if you keep the F134.

    Well, if I remember the length of them right, It won't be possible to mount one anyway, cause they are way too long. I'ld end up with a rear driveshaft that is just two sets of u-joints hooked together. If I was building an old Mustang or Fairlane on the other hand, it would be perfect.

    I had a Ford 10 bolt top loader bolted to a D18 xfre case using an AA adapter.
    It used a hurst shifter and was a close ratio 4 spd. Sure could bark the tires in second. Of course it had a 302 CI motor.
