I ordered crown automotive's J0645966 based on some diagrams and parts lists. It has three holes, but they don't line up with the two holes where the rusted out bracket was that I cut off. I was thinking about ordering Omix-ADA'S 18270.04 but then I saw on a page that these were identical replacement parts despite the picture of Omix's only showing two holes. Anybody run into this problem?

A 1972 needs a 999387 for the front. A 645966 is a rear shackle bracket for that year. You likely can make it work, but I would not expect it to fit like the original.

Just for the record, these will be the right numbers for any intermediate CJ, '72-75. I found no online source for a 999387.

I ended up using 7/16 bolts, one where the original front hole was, one in the rear hole on the bracket after drilling the frame. I then plug welded the center hole on the bracket and the sides to the frame. I don't think it is coming off. The picture doesn't really show much. It was taken before I welded in the center hole or the sides.

Thanks for the welcome timgr! Fesser, looks like I will have to do the same solution you did. I traded emails with Crown, Omix, and Kaiser Willys. Looks like they all supply the same bracket with holes 3" apart only. Although they all were polite in their responses, none indicated they could special order what I needed or send me a bracket that wasn't pre-drilled that I could drill myself. First hurdle of my intermediate cj restore so far.
