Just got my first jeep (been restoring an early Bronco for 5 years and need a new project)- a 1970 CJ5. Its in rough shape. It is totally missing the parking brake assembly, although it does still have the cable coming up through the floorboard. I want to track down the correct assembly. They are no longer made. I have found one right now off a 1965 I can buy: pbrake.jpg Would this be correct and the same as the one from my 1970? Stock T90, D18, drum brakes.....

The cable and ratchet assy you have pictured looks to be the correct part for your '70 CJ5. I don't think it is actually from a '65 because it has the later pull T handle. Up to '66/'67, the T handle was larger with a little hook on each end of the T. The later ones had the smaller T handle with small ribs molded in. Either would work, but the one pictured is more correct for your model year, if that matters to you.
As Pete notes, the inner cable is broken or missing on the one you have pictured. The replacement style cable he linked will work for a while, but the original that has the all-metal sheath is original and much more durable. Measure your original outer sheath as there are two or three different lengths out there so you get the correct one.
Do you have any of the backing plate/drum/lever assembly on the transfer case? If not, you will need all yhese pates too.

Thanks for all the great responses. I should have mentioned part of the original cable is still there and runs to the transfer case. Its just missing the top portion- mounting bracket, t-handle etc. Think I will pick this one up and figure it out....thanks again.

Well the jeep is at a friends (he is a master mechanic so I tend to do my projects there..... his garage is far better equipped than mine). Went back over to take the transmission apart and looked at the emergency brake again. It has the cable and everything hooked up below it. It is however missing the t-handle, bracket, mount etc- everything above the cable. I didnt move fast enough and the one I had found got away. If anyone has a spare I am happy to buy it off you as my search continues.....

If nothing turns up soon, you can widen your search to Jeepster Commando brake mechanisms. They have the later style smaller pull lever, and an extension on the dash mounting bracket, but can be easily modified to fit the CJ dash.
