I would like to know if anyone as had to rewire a Commando. I will need to run new wires to the back tail lights brakes etc. I think that is the worst of it, though someone stripped all the wires out. Is this a simple process or not?

It's not too bad to wire the rear, only 5 wires. Check out this link, there is a wiring diagram there.

Be sure to establish a good ground. Without a good ground , taillights can give you fits.

I drop the wires underneath instead of threading them back through.

Pretty sure 1975 was the first year they put the rear harness inside the body and dropped through the wheel house to the lights etc. So any Commando would have the rear harness routed along the left frame rail, I would expect. As I recall, it was originally inside the waxed cotton loom, and clipped to the edge of the frame rail. You could substitute (modern) plastic split loom and use cable clamps.

The '72 TSM has very detailed pictorial drawings of all the wiring, for each of the models. I suspect a '70 will have the same wiring scheme - more or less - from the cabin rearward. No access here at work, but I'll see what I can do later.

My 1970 J/C tail light wiring originates at the drivers side kick panel with the triangular shaped multi pin plug. The wiring proceeds down in the space between the kick panel and the out side of the body, it travels along the inside of the rocker and comes back up into the body behind the door opening. It continues along the under side of the top rolled edge of the body to a point by the rear tail light.
Very similar to the picture shown below. All of the tail light wiring is within the body itself.
    What year is your Commando?

Well, looking at the '72 TSM, what OzFin posted is much better than what's in the '72 book. Suggest you refer to the above picture.

Thank you all for the information. The 70 Commando in question I did not move forward with. If in the future I find another with similar issues I won't let something like missing all of the wiring slow me down. The search goes on.
