I didn't drill them yet. R) That's just how hard I was hitting them, the next thing I was going to do was drill them but I wanted to hear what you guys thought.

I removed a crap load of the factory rivets as I built up my cj6.......best I found was to cut off the heads then heat up the rivet until its red, smack with a hammer and punch.....easy

I'm waiting on some scrap angle iron to brace the tub and I got to make some money for the jeep also. I was wondering if I could swap in the axles and transfer case from a 72-75 CJ5 so I can get rid of the weak axles? Would everything bolt in? thanks

If you swap for a Dana 20 TC then you can use a centered D44 from a 72-75.

The offset Dana 18 does not play well with a centered axle.

Dana 30s are a common swap up front.

That's what I said above, Dana 20 T-case, Centered 44, and a Dana 30. But will all these parts bolt right in?

How does $100 sound for a flanged off set 44 rear axle? That's what the junk yard wants for it.

If it's in good shape, that's cheap.

I'll check it out better next time I'm up there, at least the junk yard is only about 15 minutes from my house. He has a ton of space and a ton of old stuff. All the jeeps there are rusted to nothing. :( Also I'm thinking about using a ford high boy steering column since it is plain steel all the way to the wheel and looks to be the same diameter as the old ross column. I'll have to measure one and see if it will work.

Well I got the body off the frame. I need to get the rolling chassis out of the garage, I'll start on the body by making rockers and then the front floor. I'll slowly build a jeep tub from front to back.

Yeah, I guess I just have to make my own jeep. I wish there was a way for me to get a rust free tub but all I got is rust in the shape of a jeep. R)

don't give up hope. It took me about a year of looking, but I got mine!

search & keep posted to the for sale section here-- I got a very solid tub from someone here!

Setup an ebay search as well!

if you can wait a year or two-- you can have my semi-solid tub :D

The project isn't over, there is a ford exploder taking up the jeep's space in the garage right now. The good news is that I have $400 in the exploder and my dad bought it off me for $700. So I should be able to start building the tub in a couple weeks.
