I acquired a subframe from a cj5 camper from an owner who's camper got water damage, and had intended to build another on the subframe. He later sold the jeep, and unfortunately did not keep any of the components that fit on the rear bumper or the front chassis.

I'd like to find the cj camper owner in the north east that had inquired about this chassis for a original camper that needed the subframe to return it to use. I think the prior owner said somewhere in Connecticut, but could be elsewhere.

If no one needs the subframe, I would like to use it to make a horse hauler instead of camper version.
I need all the rear bumper hitch components and the body supports. I hope another forum member has these items or can loan them to reproduce. I hope to use a classic aluminum 1962 vintage aluminum horse trailer to keep the weight down and maintain the look.

Any and all help is appreciated.

As I recall, the Jeep CJ-5 camper sat in the bed of the unmodified CJ-5, with a bogey axle added behind. This sounds like a home-brew camper. Unlikely you will find a similar conversion, if it's not the Jeep camper.

The subframe I have is the one the camper was built on with the wide jeep axle you see in the CJ camper photo.
It was bolted to the underside of the rearmost floor boards of the camper.
It has a unique cup attachment in the front that sat on a set o f extensions that bolted to the jeep frame. This set up controlled the lateral movement of the camper. The lower front of the camper also had a unique hitch that the rear hitch of the cj5 plugged into and had a big pin going thru vertically to both pull the camper and lock it to the jeep frame from any vertical movement. This made the whole camper jeep combo like a bobtail truck with an added undriven 2nd rear axle .
Really an ingenious design, it was fun studying the Patent Approval design papers and looking at the CJ5Camper website.
In use the trailing subframe carries the majority of the weight, and the front half of the camper rides in the bed of the CJ.

Lots of people, myself included, would love to have that subframe. If you do modify it for another use, please take a lot of pictures and measurements of the original so that people can duplicate it.

I have a tentative commitment to Keith in San Antonio, a group member, who has one or more of the campers.

I would like to acquire the attachment parts.

I have no intention of modifying any of the subframe.
It would need to be used with attach hard ware to be of any use,
There is basically some angle iron, an axle and springs, with a few fittings up front.
The guy who had it added a light trailer hitch to the back.

Imagine pulling a utility behind that beast. Clearly it needed the V6 power.

How can you corner in one of those? Seems like turning would result in a lot of skidding rear tires.

Here's a CJ-5 camper frame that was posted on eWillys last year, along with some info about it. Sounds like this may be the one you bought....
