C297DF64-99C0-4652-8C5F-3AA73346DD9A.jpeg I purchased this CJ-5 a few years ago from Arizona with the intent to keep it for the long term, but I got a promotion and moved to Philadelphia, where I don’t have a place to keep it. Made several repairs and improvements, including rebuilding the tie rods and rear brakes, upgrading the front brakes to disc, upgrading the master cylinder from single to dual, new BF Goodrich All Terrain tires, new speedometer, new seats, etc. I chose to retain the unoriginal paint job because I like the patina. The speedometer read 95k when I bought it, but it wasn’t working. I’ve only put a few miles on it since buying and remodeling it. If you aren’t familiar with the Dauntless V6, I suggest reading about it to fully appreciate this Jeep.

The Jeep is located in Jacksonville, FL. I am asking $8000.

Nice looking Jeep. The Dauntless is a great motor. Should sell relatively quickly.

I also have a '66, and have been trying to nail down some of the many running production changes of this model year. I see your Jeep has the snorkle plate on the side of the hood, indicating an earlier model. Does you Jeep have the top bow sockets on the rear corners?
Any chance of listing the serial number so we can see where yours falls as far as the features?

Thanks for everyone’s interest. I sold the Jeep today for $7250 to someone locally who had a ‘67 until it was stolen a few years ago. I hated to let the Jeep go, but I’m happy that it will have a good home with someone who appreciates it.

I was a novice when I bought the Jeep and became a member here. While work and family have prevented me from tuning in and posting for a long while, I hope I’ll be able to give back to the community. I’ll start by sharing the serial number, which is 8305A205097. Also, here are pictures that I hope will address some of the other questions. I’m happy to share anything else of interest.

My '66 has the snorkel cutout on the hood, but no visible top bow sockets. I have 't ground through the paint to see if they were removed. My serial number is 202360. Any other '66s that can confirm snorkel cutout and top bow sockets?

Whats up with the hydraulic reservoirs on the firewall? Brakes or brake and clutch?

My guess is a dual circuit brake master, with remote reservoirs to top up the frame-mounted master more easily.

Walt, Your Tux looks like a September '65 build date. I would expect these features at that time period. What about the orange Tux?

The numbers for the Orange Tux are 8322 16794 with no rear pockets or hood snorkel cutout as expected.

Thanks Walt! The orange one looks like a June of 1966 build date. I have a regular '66 built in Sept '65 that has a snorkle cutout and no top bow sockets, though I haven't sanded through the paint to see if they were ever there.
