guys, I don't want any lift on my new to me cj5, but I do want a little more of a stout shackle. I used Warrior brand shackles on my 1970 cj, and I like them, but looking at warriors website, 1/2" of lift comes with every shackle, at the minimum. this shouldn't affect anything in the driveline, right?

again, I don't ANY lift, but I want a strong shackle. if I have to make do with a 1/2" shackle lift, it isn't the worst thing the world, right?

any strong recommendations from any specific company? I'm not brand loyal.

Isn't it highly advisable to stay away from omix-ada Parts these days?

IMO me it depends on the part(s). I personally wouldn't have a problem with a shackle.

I'd take a quality set with the 1/2" lift over anything from Omix that, if it failed, could potentially have catastrophic results. None of their steel is held in very high regard. Walck's, apparently, doesn't even want to show who makes that shackle. That's pride in a product for ya. My .02 and yes, I tend to be a bit harsh.

A 1/2" is not going to do anything in shackles. If you have original springs they will have sagged between 1" to 1 1/2" anyways. Thus the shackle lift just to get you back to the original height.

I may have a greasable set from walcks around. They seem beefy.

I have a set on the front of mine they have been on there for four years with no problem. They are heavy made the whole reason I bought them was because of the grease fittings. I would like to find a original set of grooved front leaf springs or a set of aftermarket leaf springs that can accept the factory U shackles.

FWIW, a shackle that nets 1/2" lift will be 1" longer than stock... if that matters to you.

Personally, I'd grab a 2' section of cold-rolled 3/8" x 1 1/2" flat bar and spend an intimate afternoon with my saw and drill press.

Hmmmm, I think I might be able to just cut mine down and re drill them. What is the dimension from center to center for the holes on a stock shackle?
