I haven't updated in a while. I had electric issue that I had a hard time solving so I had to pull the dash out. Which meant taking a whole lot of parts off to do that as I had not figured to pull the dash when I built the roll cage. So the top came back off and I cut front down tube of the roll cage above the dash to be able to remove the dash stanchions to remove the dash. This was in April.

By early May I had figure out the electrical issue that was killing the battery and went out playing for two weeks came back and the battery was not dead and it started. Fixed the dash light issue bad power harness from Speed Hut, gave them a call and they sent a replacement free of charge. Tried to put it in and broke it so call again and ordered a replacement. Got that in and every thing worked. tried it every day for a week and everything work every day. Had a fiend come over give me a sanity check said it was all good. So last week I started to but parts back on.

The DMV is not that picky here. They didn't even want to see it. Just updated the registration.

Bummer you you had to cut up the cage, but glad you were able to figure out the gremlins. I wonder if theres a way to keep the cage removable in case you have to get back there again?

If look close where the cage was cut there is now a coupling that can be broken to remove the dash. The Coupling is from TMR they come in different dia. for different size tube. I built the cage with these so it would come apart to remove but the side tubes were one piece from the dash to the back. I didn't think about the dash when I did it. So when I had to take it out I cut the cage and added these so if I have to take it ever again I can just unbolt and take it out.

Interlocking ID Tube Clamp - Round

These are in both cuts now still to be welded

I like those, great idea. I was trying to come up with a way to use a half cab in the winter with a full cage, and that might be a good solution (I could take out the front portion of the cage).

Looking forward to seeing your report of the first drive!

Had a forced 2 week lay off. Took a chunk off my arm and filled it in from my leg. Prognosis I should be fine.

After being wrapped up for 2 weeks got the heavy wrapping off, down to a patch of gauze and an ace bandage. Installed a couple of different dome lights and got them wired and working. Last of the loose wires I had hanging around.

    Yikes, heal well.

A friend of mine had a broken collar bone that healed crooked and had to go in to get it re-broken with a piece of femur spliced in. When I picked him up from the hospital and asked him how he was doing, he said "When I came in here, my shoulder hurt. Now my shoulder hurts and my leg hurts. I want to go home." Pretty well summed it up.

I ordered 5 35x12.50-15 KM3's for the CJ6, should be here next week sometime. Then the work begins wrestling the old tires of the beadlocks and putting on the new tires.

Tires back ordered, not due til July 17th now. Found issue with front brake line the casting of the caliper had a shoulder that the block on the end of the brake line sits against when installed. The bolt hole was drilled to close to the shoulder and would not let the block seat. Got the small air grinder out and ground off the shoulder enough to let the block seat. Got some new washers and tried it again and no leak over night.

Installed the rear drive shaft and have the front in place just need to tighten the bolts up the rest of the way.

I will get some picture up in a couple of days.

I had two of those on SSDutch - one under the hood and one on the side in between seats. Always liked them as well.

Put on the mirrors and doors to see if they would play nice. No issues there. I have to figure out door strap for these doors, don't have the later CJ style door straps. Also need to do some paint touch up on the door edges.

I bled the brakes one more time. Started it up in the shop and moved it under it's own power a couple of feet forward and back. 20200715_085301.jpgresized.jpg 20200715_085311.jpgresized.jpg 20200715_085322.jpgresized.jpg 20200715_090715.jpgresized.jpg 20200715_090749.jpgresized.jpg
