Can someone tell me the Weber model kit to buy for the F134 and where to get it? Does the carb use the original linkage and manual choke? I read that the oil tube can be a problem. Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated.

No experience with an F134, some experience with Webers. I’ve run them on aircooled VW’s, a Land Cruiser, and now on a 258 AMC. I recommend Red Line Weber http://redlineweber.com/. They have an extensive knowledge base. I have had good luck with all. Much better than the Carter on my Jeep previously.

The Weber I have on one of my L134 was originally on a F134 in a CJ5. I bought it from a forum member who decided he wanted a bigger Webber. This one is a Weber 32/36 and the "kit" originally came from Redline.

The Weber is on the recently rebuilt L134 in my 47 CJ2A. The engine performed well with the original WO carburetor, but the Weber made a big difference in power both bottom end throttle response, and top end performance. It did take some tuning.

To get it to run right I had to re-jet it using a set of jets from Vintage Jeeper. I also had to experiment with float adjustment to get it to run right off camber.

Were I to buy a new Weber I would buy it from Vintage Jeeper because Sal knows his stuff and provides superior customer support. He was a big help to me in getting the Weber set up for best performance. The only thing Sal does not have is the adaptor for installing the carburetor onto the F134. The Redline kit comes with an adaptor that appears to be from Trans-Dapt which are sold by many dealers, including Redline.

Thanks all! I’ll probably just order the kit from Redline. I worry about needing to change jets and such. Don’t want to mess with that if I don’t have to.

I run a 32/36 dgev on my f head. Youll need the adapter which probably comes in the kit from vintage jeeper. I’m at altitude (5k feet) and had to get different jets and the imulsifers (sp?) to get it to run right.

I don’t have issues with the taller oil tube.

you’d have to PM me your cell if you want pictures or video.

Sal (Vintage Jeeper) makes an excellent adaptor for putting these on the L-134, but he does not make one for the F-134 to sell on his site.

I have spoken with him on this, and he can machine the throttle body of a Solex to make an adaptor, which he has done in the past. I don't know what he would charge for doing that work.

The adaptor that comes with the Redline kit is a basic universal 1 X 2 adaptor as made by Trans-Dapt and sold by many suppliers.

I did find better performance (and worse mpg) running a holley 1940 from a ford 160ci compared to the YF. The bore was a few mm wider.

Not sure I would spend the money without riding with someone who already has the setup.
