Should there be an inner oil slinger between inner bearing and pinion head?

Just finished taking apart a rear D44 that I picked up from Garage Gnome, and it has only an outer oil slinger. Internet diagrams show inner and outer slingers. The cracked axle housing I put up in an earlier post didn’t have any oil slingers, but clearly has been apart before. Should there be an inner oil slinger? Both inner pinion bearings are up tight to the pinion heads. Is this correct?

    Thank you,

Yep parts book only shows slingers for fronts not rears.

The reason for the "slinger" in the front axle, but not the rear is it acts more as a shield to keep gear oil from being forced through the pinion seal when the oil sloshes toward the rear of the differential when the vehicle is moving forward. It also "slings" the oil forward to keep the gears lubricated.
