I have a pretty sweet Kaiser era J truck that I think I'm going to replace with my other J truck which is objectively worse. I would like to get back into the Fun Size Jeep game so I wonder if anyone with a Fun Size Jeep would be interested in a trade for a Full Size Jeep.

This particular truck is interesting because:

It's a very low serial number (3) V-8 for the first year of Jeep V-8s
It is virtually rust free and very original
It is a short bed and has the standard small rear window

It was an Inland Empire farm truck so it's had some farmer hacks, like the paint job, and had its upholstery re-done a very long time ago but it still looks nice.

I paid $8,000 for it and I figure it's worth that. I also had an AMC 327 professionally remanufactured for it and have accumulated a bunch of parts for the install (Including a nice clean used transmission and transfer case). The rebuild was over $4,000.

I like little Jeeps so I'd be interested in anything with zero or two doors.

I would drive this truck across the country without hesitation as long as I had some oil to top it up. The engine burns some and the transfer case leaks.

Message me if you're potentially interested. I have lots of pics in this album https://photos.app.goo.gl/fqLRXs6Xx66Qh3Dr5 I'm posting here because I don't have patience for the Bring A Trailer crowd and I don't want it to be cut up into a wheeler.

I am always interested in a J-truck! Could you clarify a couple things:
    1) what transmission/TC is behind the 327? From the pics, I see a centered output D20 and a T89 - or is that a t85? - in the pics...
    2) are there 2 different engines? you mentioned a remanufactured engine for it - is that currently installed, or is it running on a different engine waiting to be swapped out?
    3) Can you confirm front axle? I believe these would have run a closed knuckle D27, or did it go to the closed knuckle D44? I think I see 5 lug wheels - so I am guessing its D27? Can't remember if the closed knuckle D44 also used 5 lugs.
    4) If you are open to a cash sale - maybe list a price? I don't have a fun-sized jeep to trade.....but if it helps, you could check out what is available in western MT/Idaho, and if you see something you like, I can transport? Just asking.....

If the same as the 67 J2000 I have partially parted out, the front axle will be a closed knuckle D44-2 hole on right side. D53 rear axle. Mine had the 327, T89 transmission, and 4.10 gears. Most of it is the proverbial rust bucket but it appears to have decent doors and tailgate that were obviously replaced. If anyone buys this close to me, those pieces are up for grabs-as in free. Except for the wheels, 11" Bendix brakes, that 2 hole knuckle, and the Warn hubs--------

That's a $400 tailgate minimum. In good shape twice that.

Looking at Jim Allen's book, seems that the wagoneer got the D27 front, and the trucks got the D44s - knowing jeep, I am sure that is not 100%, but seems to make sense. As for the rear, its a bit harder to make sense of his chart. Looks like the wagoneer got the D44, but the trucks could get either the 44 or the 53 depending on GVW... as best I can tell from Allen's book, any truck above the base/lowest GVW got the 53. The 53 isn't totally unsupported in the aftermarket like a Timken clamshell, but at the same time, for a MT run-about truck, the 44 might have more options for aftermarket support (i.e. a powerloc or similar).
    Anyway, cool truck.....

"Vigilante" 327. Coolest moniker ever. So I get to see it at your place in Sept Fino?

Yea. Vigilante is the best. Totally agree.

    The 70 Wagoneer I had used a 27 front and 44 rear.

I like this truck a lot.
