How generic are D44 carrier/pinon bearing install kits? Mostly, is there a significant difference between 19spline and 30spline. I think I used this Richmond kit when I redid the 30spline in my cj, but it seems to suggest its only for 30 spline....

do I need to look for a 19spline specific kit?
A few manufactures specify a 19spline kit - such as this Yukon kit, but it doesn't look right with the crush sleeve etc....or maybe that is right on a tapered 19spline - my only experience was with the 30spline....

Any suggestions on ones people have used and liked?

The ID of the carrier bearings is larger on the 30 spline units so yes there is a difference. The OD is the same. I don't think my Timken catalog goes back to the 19 spline era but I'll take a look.

some of the specialty suppliers have all the pieces individually - think I can get the timken numbers from them - but was looking to order a complete kit. Maybe I'll just check in with Sam at Parts dude or similar and see if they can just piece together all the parts individually....or I could check in with herm - looks like he has a good price assuming quality bearings....

If I give you a couple part # do you have a way to cross reference them to see they are the correct bearings for your application . I have 2 brand new Dana 44 rebuild kits and 2 Dana thirty kits but the part numbers say they fit 2005 -2018 Jeep JK just wonder if the bearings would work for you. Not trying to make any money off these they got sent to me by a vendor on mistake and the cost of shipping them back was more than they were worth I guess. they told me their mistake my gain

Wouldn't those 2005-2018 axles be New Gen D44's? I wouldn't make any bets any of those pieces will fit the original D44's.

The Richmond Gear kit uses Timken bearings and the Nitro-Gear kit uses Timken or Koyo bearings. No chinese bearings. The Yukon overpriced kit does not specify.
These were for 19 spline axles. A lot of places use stock or generic photos and may be why it shows a crush sleeve.
