Electric Cooling Fan For V6

It is nearly a perfect match/fit to a Dauntless radiator.

 

The original post shows both a mechanical fan and an electric fan, an unusual setup. As suggested in several replies, a shroud is an essential part needed for good cooling. This needs to cover the whole radiator core, and should fit fairly close to the fan’s diameter. This will help assure the whole radiator will be cooling the engine.
For Jeeps, I personally prefer a mechanical fan, either direct drive or thermostatic clutch driven. Other cars I have use electric fans with temp switches controlling the fan.

That moves some air and the depth would be perfect for the wide radiator. When cars first started using R-134 refrigerant for a/c, they worked fine at speed but would not
cool around town. Automakers went to electric fans and larger condensers to solve this problem. Electric or electric back up fans just make sense for a jeep.

I have a Nissan Hardbody that would overheat in town with the a/c on. I could reach in and stop the fan with a gloved hand. Replaced the fan clutch and it
did the same. A fan clutch does not give 100 percent of fan speed. The a/c lost the charge and now I just roll the windows down. To redo it I would put an
Altima electric fan in which would require an alternator upgrade. Not on my list of priorities though.

 

I'm having overheating problems in my 225 v6. I plugged the heater inlet/outlet on water pump and manifold. I have an aftermarket manifold. Do I need to run a hose between the inlet & outlet?

 

That is how I would do it. There are plenty of things that can cause overheating.

 

If you're going to use an electric fan, make sure it's as large as possible to cover the full radiator. This will make it the most efficient way to cool the motor.
I use two 12" electric fans. I also built a fan shroud for them.

 

Sorry for the slow reply I’ve been very busy. Right now I have a replacement aluminum radiator installed 1 year ago closest size I could find to the original I believe it’s it’s for a mopar big block, along with a thermostat and the water pump was replaced 2 years ago. I have a 15” flex fan a bigger fan may not help much because right now it sits few inches below the radiator. Today I ordered a universal fan shroud for the 22” radiator. I will install the shroud and see what happens.
