Yeah, not enough. I don't want to go through all this work for a V6.

You shouldn't go though all that work just for an LS, You need an 8.1 Vortec :twist::

Just kidding, of course. I'd love an LS in my flatfender, but that's way in the future at this point.

Jonah is running a 4.8 LS in his 3B.
I'm positive you can get it in your 3B, the question is will you get it done in time.

    I was thinking I’d get Steve’s 71 sold before the next run……
Maybe I should prep it just in case Tim needs a rig to wheel!
But maybe he’s too chicken to go back to spring under 31’s…. :p

I don't think I should pretend this will be done by June, but I have every intention of making the full schedule this summer. I have options. Nick has been my driver on Jamboree in Woodstock for several years, since he was 16, before the tux was done. I had to teach him somehow. And I always could go old school with you guys and bring Lefty Lucy on the ECJ5 run. V6, 4speed, power steering, 33's.

Ok, option 3, drive it like I stole it. That jeep might be the most capable in the last runs I've seen. Or was it the young guns driving?

If I ride with Nick, I'll be the guy that jumps out to spot, and yes, that means a lot more beer.

Ironically, the way your fuel injected rigs run is part of the impetus for Woodstock 4.0. I don't necessarily need to go up steeper obstacles, but when I go up or down the steep ones we drive every year, I need it to run better. I look at the LS as cheap fuel injection.

It about as cheap as adding aftermarket fuel injection that won't be nearly as reliable in the woods.

Work has actually commenced. Also collecting parts. I have been eyeing these Corbeau Baja low backs for a while. I think they fit and look good in a ECJ.
I don't know these 2 jeeps, but I did sit in a 2A in the Rubicon that has them. I like the look and feel.
I know this is not nearly as important as the motor or frame, but I got them here.
This is as close as I can get to a test fit. They will need a fender notch, as you can see the guy did in the first photo.

My old original 3B seats served me well. I liked that they were very durable, and had a classic look. I got the Beachwood cushions and covers from my dad's M38 in lightly used condition, in 2001. One problem with a flatty is you don't get a glove box. The G503's had them, and the M38 had a small one, but Willy's probably just cheaped-out on the CJ's. That was probably a concern when they developed the CJ5, and put them back in. My solution was the Beachwood Canvas seat back backpack. This non-stock pouch gave me somewhere to put small stuff.
The canvas has finally given it up after all these years. I think it just wore through, after hundreds of trips.
23 years of stuff dumped out. TP, (critically low btw), registration, sunblock, headlamp, soap, radio manual, fire starter, compass, flashlight, bite stick, chargers, fire permit, etc. Now I don't know where I'm putting this stuff, with the new seats. My only idea, is a between-seat console. Maybe I could incorporate a day-cooler in there?

Just an idea, but there's a guy, jscherb, on the expeditionportal forum, who created canvas pouches for modern jeeps. I don't recall which company is making them, but I think this might be it. There's several types, maybe one will work for your use case?

More parts gathering. I visited an old friend nearby that is the local LS hoarder. He has the wrecking yard program down, and with help, can have a truck LS (6.0 LQ4 or 5.3 LM7) home in a few hours. He is in the middle of a stretch YJ build, and my brother just got a 6.0 for his Commando from him. So, my turn. He has a nice 5.3 from an Escalade ready for me. He puts them on a run-stand for a quick test run, and that's good enough for now.
Loaded up the truck and headed home. I am planning on keeping the truck (tall) intake. I think the 3B has the height.
Contemplating the front accessory drive, the truck drive is a few inches longer than the F-body (Camaro) drive, but I have this.
I won't use a lot of this. Things like the exhaust manifolds and flex plate can go, as I will stick with the stick.
I got the harness, ECM and starter. This is a drive by wire throttle body, so that's what I'm going with. Looks like fun, huh?
