No smoke cloud either, which in my experience is unusual for an engine that has sat idle that long. Nice looking Jeep too, what is the story on the long time of sitting?

My CJ5 had sat in a barn since 1979 and smoked like crazy when I first got it running, but after a few doses of Marvel Mystery Oil and a valve job it does not smoke now.

It is always a thrill to hear one come back to life.

Very cool! Has to feel good. Looks like maybe Wagoneer axles. I’m also curious what power steering pump that is.

78 Wagoneer D44 axles. I did not cut them down so they are pretty wide. They have six lug hubs and locking hubs in the front. Tires sticking out are not unusual here in Arizona.

Toyota MR2 Power Steering Pump. I heard that someone knew someone that had put one in a Jeep before. Decided to try it for myself. So far it seems pretty good.

I rebuilt the engine a few years ago. Never started it as I did not have headers/exhaust/wheels/tires/lots of stuff. Then I just started adding stuff until there was noting else to do but start it. My daughter came home from college for winter break, so it worked out to get it started before she goes back to school again. She's decided the CJ6 is hers. It seems to run really well. I was surprised it did not smoke at all. I thought there would be a cloud from all the assembly lube burning off.

I bought this Jeep 20+ years ago. It was a mess. Decided it needed to be rebuilt. Life got in the way and it sat in storage for a long time. I retired in 2020 so I've had plenty of time to work on it. Now that it is running I can start fixing my mistakes, and adding a proper roll cage/winch/tire carrier/etc. It will never end...

Congrats! It's a huge milestone to get it to where you have it, definitely a big achievement.

It's very exciting getting a Jeep running after years of sitting. I remember how excited I was. Great Job!

I got the CJ6 registered and new plates. Also fixed up the tailgate and installed it.

I painted the 4 Wheel Drive logo in copper paint. It seems to go well with the Arizona copper historic license plate.
