Brennans Conversion Pads?

Good morning all!

For you guys that have done the Brennan’s tracker disc conversion, what kind of pads are you seeing your best results?

I didn’t go back and re-read @Focker ’s thread but I thought he mentioned he had better results from organic pads.

Starting to collect parts for a front end rehab and looking for a bit of an edge!

 

Following this with interest. I used Beck-Arnley organic pads from Rock Auto, FF friction rating. Should be about as good as it gets. Yet somehow they seem weaker than my drum brakes ever were. I still have 10" drums on the rear, and I had to practically turn the proportioning valve all the way down (minimize pressure to the rear) to keep the rears from locking up first. Not sure what to make of it.

 

I did an all 4 wheel Metcalf conversion on the 62, using the organic pads from rock auto. I put in a dual cylinder master cylinder at the time, i can lock up the tires scary fast.

If there is issues stopping you may need a proportioning valve

 

I have the exact same problem, and switching to organic didn't help. I even put in a beast of a master cylinder from a full sized van. Someone on here recommended to do the super duper bleeding for the discs where you pull them off and hold them higher than master cylinder but I have yet to do that since it is good enough for what I am using it for now.

 

make sure your caliper is exactly centered with the pads over the disk. If its off a little but it will reduce braking effectiveness.

 

This is the wrong way to go. A smaller piston in the master cylinder will make higher line pressure for the same pedal force. It does come at the expense of added travel though.
